Grants Policy:
1. Objects of the Charity
The Charity was created by a Trust Deed dated 6th April 1988, in memory of Anthony and Gwendoline Wylde.
The Trustees may pay or apply the net income of the Trust Fund, and any part of the Capital at their absolute discretion in furtherance of the objects of the Charity. The Trustees aim to use the income available for the benefit of both Local Community bodies, and individuals, and are prepared to receive a wide range of requests, provided that the applicants can show the benefits that would be derived from a grant, and that other sources of funding are not available.

2. Policy for Grants
- Grants are only made in the areas of Dudley and Staffordshire, with particular emphasis on Kinver, Kidderminster, and Stourbridge. The area is defined by the following postcodes: WV4, WV5, DY3, then DY6, DY7, DY8, DY9, DY10 and D11, and applications would only be considered from areas outside those postcodes in exceptional circumstances.
- Grants are not normally made to other grant giving organisations.
- The Trustees do not fund organisations which are not "charitable" (within the meaning of the law) and do not contribute to costs than can be met out of State resources.
- The Charity has two Grants Committees, the first is the Small Grants Committee, which deals with requests up to £1,000 maximum, and which can be dealt with as they arise, depending on their urgency. The second is the Grants Advisory Committee which meets twice a year, and deals with grant requests that are either non urgent, or require special consideration due to the amounts involved.
- Although the Small Grants Committee deals with urgent grant requests not exceeding £1,000, applicants should be aware that grants awarded tend to be significantly less than this figure, unless there is a special need. If the Committee decides that the request complies with the grant criteria, and should be supported, they have the authority to approve the application at any time, and proceed with the grant.
- Prospective applicants should be aware that their application may be unsuccessful. The number of projects that can be supported is, as a necessity, limited by the amount of funds available for distribution in any year, and it may not be possible, therefore, for the Trustees to make an award even within the grant funding priorities.
- The Grants Advisory Committee meetings are held as part of the Main Trustee meetings, which are now held twice a year (currently early May, and late November), and these larger applications are approved, where appropriate, at these Trustee meetings.
- Typically, a significant proportion of the small grants will be from individuals, and for educational purposes, and the larger grants tend to be from local organisations, although every application is considered on its merit.
- On receipt of your Application by the Clerk to the Charity, a decision will be made, and the information passed to the appropriate Grants Committee.
- If the application is unsuccessful, you will be advised of such in writing, but the Trustees are not required to provide any further information as to the basis of that decision.
